Desktop icons won't work
Problem details:
Clicking on the desktop icons causes Internet Explorer to ask if you want to save or open a download. Some programs also won't open.
Solution details:
.lnk files needed their file association fixed in the registry, and to make the programs seem to work again, the virtual screen was disabled, they defaulted to opening on the second screen which was not displayed.
